Materials and Safety: What are Pampers Diapers Made of?

We know that trying to make sense of what's in your baby's products can be intimidating, even scary. But it doesn't have to be. We're here to help if you have any questions about our quality and safety standards.

We at Pampers take as much love and care to determine what materials and ingredients are not included in our products as we do to evaluate the ingredients that go in them. What are disposable diapers made of? This is a common question, and we ensure all our materials are safe and effective.

That's why we do not add any of the following ingredients to our Pampers products*:

Absorbent Core

MADE WITH:

Elemental chlorine-free fluff pulp and super-absorbent polymer

DID YOU KNOW?

Our elemental chlorine-free fluff pulp is sustainably sourced, and the polymer helps absorb wetness so your baby's skin can stay dry.

Absorbent Topsheet

MADE WITH:

Polypropylene and polyester

DID YOU KNOW?

From the football field to the produce aisle, these soft, high-performance fibres are durable enough to get the job done, but also safe for your baby.

Soft Outer Cover

MADE WITH:

Polypropylene, polyethylene

DID YOU KNOW?

The same materials are used in hospital garments and other fabrics—we've combined them in the perfect ratio to deliver softness, breathability, and protection.

Printed Backsheet

MADE WITH:

Inks (made without disperse dyes)

DID YOU KNOW?

The inks we use are commonly found in a wide range of products, including food packaging, coloured contact lenses, textiles, and toys. Ours are also evaluated to ensure they are safe and non-sensitizing.

Seams & Joints

MADE WITH:

Adhesives

DID YOU KNOW?

Adhesives are used in many common baby products, including clothing and underwear. Ours are evaluated to ensure they are safe, solvent-free, non-sensitizing, and also tucked away from your baby's skin.

Fasteners & Leg Cuffs

MADE WITH:

Polypropylene and elastics

DID YOU KNOW?

Polypropylene is a durable, high-performance fibre used in virtually all disposable diapers as well as in many medical devices.

Skin Protecting Lotion

MADE WITH:

Petrolatum, stearyl alcohol, and aloe barbadensis leaf extract

DID YOU KNOW?

Specially designed to help maintain healthy skin, the lotion on our topsheet is made from ingredients commonly used in lip balms and baby skin cleansers that help hydrate the skin.

Wetness Indicator

MADE WITH:

pH-Sensitive Strip

DID YOU KNOW?

The strip is similar to the pH strips you used in science class. It indicates when your baby's urine hits the diaper, letting you know when it's time for a change.
